Lady Macbeth


Rural England, 1865. Katherine (Florence Pugh) is stifled by her loveless marriage to a bitter man twice her age, whose family are cold and unforgiving. When she embarks on a passionate affair with a young worker on her husband’s estate, a force is unleashed inside her, so powerful that she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Lady Macbeth premiered in the prestigious Platform section at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. It won the FIPRESCI International Critic’ prize at San Sebastian and Thessaloniki, the Critics’ Choice at Zurich, the Cineuropa prize for outstanding cinematic contribution at Les Arcs, the Discovery Award at the 2017 European Film Academy Awards and five 2017 British Independent Film Academy Awards.
